An initial public offering (IPO) is the first occasion when stock of a private company is offered to the public. IPOs are often issued by smaller, more youthful organizations seeking capital to expand, but they can also be done by large privately owned companies looking to become publicly traded.Investing into IPO’s is close to Venture Capital investing or rather like producing movies. Once they release, you can make a hell lot of money, if they turn out to be blockbusters. If they are duds, you lose money. But companies have longer runways than movies.
